From freelance to founder — what changed
Three years of client work taught me to ship. The hard part was learning to say no.
I spent three years freelancing in Bangalore — marketplaces, e-commerce, directories, whatever paid. ZeroRentals, Casadimora, UGC Marketing. Each one shipped. Each one taught me the same lesson: the client doesn't want the tech, they want the outcome.
When I started LumifyHQ, I did the thing I'd told clients not to do: I built too much.
The fix wasn't more discipline. It was a smaller promise.
- One user: a solo operator who needs a dashboard that doesn't need a manual.
- One job: see the money, see the work, move on.
- One constraint: ship every week, no matter what.
Freelance taught me to build fast. Founder life is teaching me to build less.
